Giuseppe Penone Writing

Tree tuning fork; the ear resting on the trunk of a tree
to hear its years of growth, to hear the noise of the wind
that runs in the branches, in the trunk, in the roots down into the earth.
Resting the ear and striking the trunk of a tree.
Each species of tree a sound, each day of the tree a different sound,
a sound of summer, a sound of autumn, every season a sound, every day
a sound depending on the heat, the cold, the dryness, the water in the air.
Propagation of the sound, propagation of the wood,
roundness of the sound, roundness of the tree.
On the fingertips the drawing of the sound.

Eye, axil of the leaf.
Tree, eye of the earth, trap of light, glance of leaves.
The sphere of light, the sphere of the eye, the sphere of the tree.
The eye full of light.
The thrust of the tree in the light of summer.
The pressure of light leaves imprints of leaves on the eyes.
Crystal, light of the earth that transports thought.
Marble, bone of the earth.
Calcium, thought of stone.
Brain of crystal.
Flute of vertebrae.
Back of glass.
The tree of vertebrae.

Pressed flower and leaf scans

The definition of the lines and the colours are really beautiful. Going to do further studies from these scans.

Much Chopping-It was a homemade Christmas!

Really enjoyed myself in the kitchen this December 2011, making, chutney, harissa paste, pickled onions, fruit compote, lemon squash, mulled pears, whisked plums and dark chocolate edibles!

Taking from the past and making into new

These Ceramic pieces where made in 2010, and displayed in a final show of my first year Ceramics BA. I have rejuvenated them by crocheting round them and making them into a portable pieces.

3D and 2D Glass Work

I decided to experiment with a few of my many collected up blue glass moisturizer containers.
I wanted to try and preserve the flower inside the pot, whilst fusing the cobalt-blue glass with the clear float glass.
The experiments varied, I am going to continue with these experiments, as i quite liked the results, as the ash of the flower is gently left behind.

The below is Ginkgo, Japanese Maple leaves along with a Hydrangea flower encapsulated within found float glass.

Cob Housing

I have been thinking a lot about the 'home' since reading for my dissertation.
Ellen Swallow Richards coined the word ecology from the Greek oikos meaning house.
That with all ecological concerns we should return home to deal with them.

The turreted tops of these houses are attractive and similar to the shapes of the charcoal producing huts.
The beauty of these houses is how they are made.
